Teams & Officials with Sir Tom pior to the Charity Match

The BabyBeat Charity based at Royal Preston Hospital's Sharoe Green Maternity Unit benefited from over £1,200.00 raised from a charity football match between seargents from the Fishergate Army Recruitment Office and the North West Air Ambulance team held at the LFA Ground in the front of special guest Sir Tom Finney.

LEP League referees Trevor Barrow, Simon Mahomed and Craig Dickinson were on hand to see that the game was played in good spirits.

Hoghton Finish Third in Division 1

Hoghton completed their most successful season in the league by drawing 2-2 with Penwortham Town which saw them finish in third spot in Division 1. Lee Dovey scored both Hoghton goals with Carl Busby replying with two for Penwortham Town.

Preston & Chorley CSSC will want to forget this season after finishing bottom of the table but at least they held cup finalists Lea to a 1-1 draw.

Bolton County were held to a 1-1 draw by Youth Division 1 champions Southport Trinity with Chris Houghton on target for County and to no-ones surprise, Andrew Vernon scoring for Trinity. County need to win their two remaining games to capture runners up spot from Penwortham Town.

Lytham St Annes YMCA will look back on a highly successful first season in the league after adding the Youth Division 2 championship to the Syndicate Trust Youth Trophy. Tonight they defeated Tarleton Corinthians 5-0, a result which left Corinthians without a point for their seasons work.

Mobile Phones - Foneaid

The League raised some £250.00 for Derian House Children's Hospice by sending old unwanted mobile phones to Foneaid.

As we are still receiving unwanted mobiles, we will leave the appeal open for anyone or any club to let us have mobile phones for this appeal. Contact Eamonn McNamara.

Adverts for players for next season

Clubs are advised that the League will not be placing adverts for players for season 2008-09 on the website before the registration forms for next season are distributed on Monday 9 June 2008.

Referees

New Referee Assessors Wanted

The Lancashire Football Association is planning to hold a a course for New Referee Assessors at BAC Samlesbury on Sunday 7th September 2008, commencing at 9.30am.

Any retired or active officials who might be interested in assisting the current crop of referees in this important task are asked to contact Jim Bryson on 01772 700997 for further details.

Preston Referees Society - AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Preston Referees Society will be held on Tuesday 3rd June 2008 at St Gregorys Club, Blackpool Rd, Preston commencing at 7.30pm.

Because of night matches, no monthly meetings are planned for either April or May.

Physical Fitness Training

Preston Referees have arranged physical fitness training sessions at Preston Sports Arena every Monday evening from 7-8pm. Meet at West (track side) changing rooms at 6.45pm to use the secure changing and shower facilities or just be on the track for 7.00pm. Subscriptions are £1.00per session.

The sessions are open to referees of all ages and levels and apart from the fitness training they are a useful support group for shared ideas and experiences. Fitness Leader Paul Marsden can be contacted on p.marsden@dunelm.org.uk
