
Latest NewsTuesday May 13, 2008Referee Tony wins top AwardTony Little, LEP Sunday League Referee of the Year Preston referee Tony Little has won the League’s Referee of the Year Award. Tony, who refereed one of semi-finals this season, has been at the top of the club marks for the past two seasons and has just been promoted to Level 6. Martin Thomas who lives in Great Eccleston has won the Most Improved Referee Award and it is a double celebration for Martin who has also won the Referee of the Year from Preston District League. The Junior Referee of the Year Award has gone to Dave Hesketh who has just completed his second season in the middle. Dave was formerly the manager of Fulwood Amateurs Reserves and he played for many years in our premier division where he was noted for advising referees on the finer points of the law. The New Referee Award has gone to Paul Mountain who is also well known in local football circles. It has taken many people by surprise to Paul officiating but his calm and assured handling of games has earned him plenty of praise from club officials. Teams & Officials with Sir Tom pior to the Charity Match The BabyBeat Charity based at Royal Preston Hospital's Sharoe Green Maternity Unit benefited from over £1,200.00 raised from a charity football match between seargents from the Fishergate Army Recruitment Office and the North West Air Ambulance team held at the LFA Ground in the front of special guest Sir Tom Finney. LEP League referees Trevor Barrow, Simon Mahomed and Craig Dickinson were on hand to see that the game was played in good spirits. More News...
