Jimmy Mulholland - A Man for all Seasons

A Guard of Honour for Jimmy Mulholland

AC Muldoons (LEP Sunday League) played Muldoons FC (Preston & District League) in a special fixture to recognise and celebrate the 10 years service that Jimmy Mulholland has given to both clubs.

Players past and present from both teams turned out to honour Jimmy who has captained the Sunday outfit for 8 seasons, won the Players Player of the Year 6 times and has been runner up twice. He has also been voted Clubman of the Year on three occasions.

The AC Muldoons team included manager Dean Crossen, assistant Iain Hall, former secretary Andy Pearson and referee David McNamara who played for AC Muldoons before taking up the whistle.

The game, which was played in an excellent spirit at Preston Sports Arena ended 2-2 and the Sunday team won the bragging rights by winning the penalty shootout 3-2. Both teams and supporters retired to the pub post match to continue the celebrations.

But the day was all about Jimmy Mulholland who was presented with an inscribed glass trophy as a memento after the game. The last word went to AC Muldoons manager Dean Crossen who said, “Jimmy Mulholland is a gentleman and an extremely popular player who works hard for the club, it’s a pity that there are not more like him”. Referees

Referee fitness training

Training will be held from 6.30-7.30pm every Monday evening at Preston Sports Arena.

Our weekly fitness sessions with the excellent facilities on offer at the Arena and the support group atmosphere is something very positive which the Society offers.

Organiser Paul Marsden said, "I would particularly appeal to any members who perhaps do not currently attend Society meetings for whatever reason to give the fitness sessions a go as I assure you that you will find it a very good way of getting involved, and it will benefit your refereeing.

If you are interested in coming down either next week or in the future, please contact Paul Marsden via e-mail .

Referees Wanted

Referees are needed to ensure that games in the local leagues have a qualified official.

Is this something that would interest you? - if so we can help you get started and we will support you through the Referees Society training programme.

Referees come in all shapes and sizes, young and old, male and female and if you love the beautiful game we can find a place for you. Ex-players are particularly welcome.

If you are interested and would like more information, please give Jim Bryson a call on 01772 700997.

FA Referees Fitness Guide

Referees are asked to read the attached Fitness Guide.
The FA, LFA & RA encourage all referees to attend their local Society's Fitness Sessions, which are held each Monday evening at Preston Arena. Details above.
